The University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, Germany (Fachhochschule Düsseldorf, FH D for short) was founded on 1 August 1971 by combining several renowned regional educational institutions. FH D started lectures with 120 professors and around 2200 students under the leadership of the founding rector, Professor Hans Albert Klüfer. Today, the University is one of the largest of its kind in the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary range of subjects. Approximately 8000 students are taught in 34 degree programmes in 7 faculties/departments by nearly 200 professors and around 100 assistant staff members.
